TECHNOLOGY: Operating System

What is an Operating System?

An operating system (OS) is a collection of software that manages computer hardware resources and provides common services for computer programs. The operating system is a vital component of the system software in a computer system. Application programs usually require an operating system to function. (Source: Wikipedia)

Ina (‘Fire’ in Yoruba Language) is an embedded high level clone – operating system raised from the Linux shell. It was inspired by the need to further simplify computing interface paradigms for the grass-roots. This effort, we believe, will provide a more simpler, yet powerful user experience for the ‘uninterested’, and the ‘unschooled’. The category “uninterested” are computer user gaps that care less about popular computer hypes thus would only pay attention to function and utility. The category ” the unschooled” are not necessarily “stark” illiterates, but are individuals or groups who have been left behind in view of the incredible evolution taking place in modern computing workspace.

The operating system (in development) shall be largely narrated in native Yoruba language, inheriting the rich accent marks, and hopes to attract for the first time, “non-technical” developers.
