Official Advocacy Visit for Osun SMART Project Launch

On a mission to revolutionize education in Osun State, the Strategies and Yields Limited (SYL) team recently paid an official advocacy visit to the Osun State Government as part of the groundwork for launching the transformative Osun SMART Project. The visit, aimed at securing the state’s support for the Strategic Mastery of AI for Resourceful Teaching (SMART) initiative, marked a significant step toward empowering Osun’s educators with cutting-edge AI tools to enhance teaching and learning.

The SYL delegation included Mr. Oluwatosin Bukun-Joseph (CEO and Technical Development Director), Mr. Abegunde Olushola Babatunde (Systems Engineer), Mrs. Olayinka Odubela (Committee Chair and Communications Strategist), and Mr. Elijah Eniayewu (AI Engineer and Data Systems Specialist). They were warmly received by Her Excellency, Deaconess Olusola Adewusi, the Wife of the Deputy Governor of Osun State, in a meeting that underscored the state’s commitment to educational innovation.

The Osun SMART Project seeks to train over 15,000 primary and secondary school teachers across Osun State in AI literacy and application, equipping them with tools to create dynamic, inclusive, and personalized learning experiences for their students. During the visit, the SYL team presented their comprehensive proposal, highlighting how SMART aligns with Osun’s history of educational innovation—such as the Opon Imo initiative—and the current administration’s focus on digital economic growth under Governor Ademola Adeleke. They emphasized that the program, targeting funding from organizations like XAI, Dangote Foundation and other potential sponsors, would requires minimal financial commitment from the state—just an official endorsement and administrative support.

Her Excellency, Deaconess Olusola Adewusi, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, recognizing its potential to position Osun as a leader in AI-driven education in Nigeria. The SYL team outlined how SMART will address critical educational challenges, such as teacher shortages, the urban-rural divide, and support for physically disadvantaged students, while fostering a future-ready workforce.

This advocacy visit sets the stage for the Osun State SMART Conference, a landmark event that will officially launch the project and bring together policymakers, educators, and tech leaders to chart a tech-driven future for Osun. With the state government’s support, SYL is poised to roll out this groundbreaking programme, ensuring that Osun’s educators and students are at the forefront of the global AI revolution.
